Creating Form Through Geometric Shapes

It often easier to find the correct form of a subject, any subject by first putting in geometric shapes first. This helps the hand find the composition easier. This is a technique that almost all cartoonists and illustrator use. Below is a video showing how the technique works as you start a drawing. I am demonstrating a drawing of a lions head and a horse.

2 Assignments:

1.) Draw the 2 horses below using geometric shapes and then add shading. Allow your geometric shapes to show through your shading. Drag the drawing sheet to your desktop, print out and draw away. Make a cell phone image or scan it in and send it to ihs.db@yahoo.com. This lesson is due by October 9th.

2.) At the end of this lesson you will find a lesson on drawing a superhero. Drag the page to your desktop and print it out. Using geometric shapes, create your own superhero.

These 2 lessons are due on Friday, October 9th.
