Discovering Drawing With a New Perspective

View the video below and then follow the instructions at the bottom of the page.

Your assignment:

Drawing a simple apple.

Step one: Draw a two circles that overlap.

Step two: Draw a line that places the circles on a table

Step three: Decide which direction the light is shinning on the apple

Step four: Use shading techniques to allow shadows to appear on the apple

the opposite side from the direction of the light

Step five: place a shadow on the apple

Step six: Turn your apple into an apple in value, tone and add a stem and leaf.

The basics of drawing here are that you discovered that any composition can be created using geometric shapes. You also discovered

that all drawing is an illusion using shadows to send the signal to your brain that this object is an apple when it is not. It is only lead

pencil on a piece of white paper.
