Two Week Project

Choose two projects from the list below. You have two weeks o produce your two projects. When completed make a cell phone image of your project and send it to ihs.db@yahoo.com. Be sure that it is a .jpg file and include your name and class in the email.

Project #1: Create a self portrait of only your face wherein one half of your face is realistic color and the other half is an animal. The animal should be one that you feel best identifies you with the main character of that animal. For instance, if you choose to be a leader you would choose a lions face, etc. This project is produced in only with color pencils in order to teach you how to create skin tones using primary colors.

Project#2: Out of the many artists that we have discovered choose two that you like the most and write a two page report on them. Explain why you like these artists in an in-depth manner. Each report should be two pages long, single spaced. Then produce a copy of one of their masterpieces in class as well using any medium. You may use the library to do your report.

Project#3: Produce a painting or drawing depicting one half of a subject in a realistic manner and the other half in a surrealist manner. Any medium.

Project#4: Produce a political work of art that has meaning to you.

Project#5: Produce a work of art the depicts two opposites coming together.

Project#6: Choose a culture or country around the world and produce a work of art that reflects that culture.

Project#7: Produce an individual project or projects according to your desire as related to your favorite subjects, careers, and art direction.

Project#8: A fashion project, design a line of clothing, or a pair of sneakers using templates, sketches and illustrations.

Project#7: Design a series of ads for a product demonstrating the usage of drawing skills and the usage of type.

Project#8: Design a piece of architecture that is a personal space such as a tree house as a home, or a unique tent for camping, a house or any functional building.

Project#9: Write a three page report, single space, 11/12 pt. type on a visual artist that interests you. In your report describe at least three works of art by that artist and describe why you find meaning in each work.

Project#10: Create an original work of art of any nature or subject using any medium. Be ready to explain how you used at least three elements and principles of design once the work is completed.

Project#11: Create an abstract work of art that reflects the work of another great visual abstract painter and be ready to explain how your work relates to the artist that inspired you.

Project#12: Create a work of art related to a vortex. Be ready to explain what a vortex is and how the work of art is related to a vortex.

Project#13: Write a poem and illustrate it.

Project#14: Create a small painting, 8x10”, The painting must be of a famous work of art such as Vermeer’s Girl with a Pearl Earring. using only magazine pieces of paper as your colors.

Project#15: Using one of the large wood panels, team up with someone else and produce a work of art that can be hung in the school. It can be an abstract or it can fit a theme related to the wing the image relates to such as science, language arts, music, etc.

Project#16: Using a light tablet and your computer trace an image from a magazine of a subject that interests you using only the primary colors of red, yellow and blue.

Project#17: Create a black and white drawing that reflects foreshortening that also has dramatic positive and negative space.

Project#18: Select at least four lessons from the lesson boxes against the wall that relates to reproducing a Masters work of art. Use color pencils only.

Project#19: VAC II, and VACIII classes may work with clay to produce a pot or sculpture. Time limits on the pottery wheel are 15 minutes per student.

Project#20: Create your own work of art or independent assignment that is first explained to Mr. Bonnell for approval.
